Hilton Park
Located along the Piscataqua River, Hilton Park offers one of the best waterfront experiences in Dover. It’s a favorite for locals and visitors alike who are looking to enjoy the water or simply relax in a peaceful setting.
The park features a public boat launch suited for small watercraft with direct access to the tidal river. Anglers will find plenty of space to cast a line, while others come to unwind with a picnic and watch boats pass by. There’s also a playground for children, ample picnic tables, and a dock that provides excellent views of the water.
With open grassy areas, shaded seating, and sweeping views of the river and surrounding shoreline, Hilton Park is an ideal place to slow down and take in the natural beauty of the Seacoast. It’s especially popular at sunset—just be sure to head to the western (bay) side of the park for the best view.
Boaters should be aware that currents coming out of Great Bay and along the Piscataqua River can be strong. Use caution when launching from Hilton Park. For a more paddle-friendly kayak or canoe launch, head west on Route 4, cross the Scammel Bridge, and take the first right after the bridge. This access point provides a calmer entry into Little Bay and the Bellamy River. If you head north into the Bellamy you're paddling in Dover, and if you head south under the bridge you're paddling into Newmarket/Durham and Little Bay.
Whether you're launching a boat, meeting friends for a casual afternoon, or simply looking for a scenic place to unwind, Hilton Park is a must-visit outdoor destination in Dover.
