Are you passionate about storytelling, social media, and exploring your community? Communitively, a Dover-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting downtown vitality through marketing, events, and community engagement, is looking for a Digital Content Creator Intern to help shape the voice of DiscoverDoverNH.com and its connected digital ecosystem.
About the Role
As our Digital Content Creator Intern, you’ll be at the heart of a growing initiative to share the best of Dover, NH with locals and visitors alike. You’ll create original blog posts, design and publish content for Instagram and Facebook, and potentially expand into other platforms like TikTok or Threads. From coffee shops to museums, parks to performances—you’ll explore Dover’s people, places, and stories and bring them to life through writing and photography.
This internship is perfect for students studying communications, journalism, marketing, digital media, or related fields who want hands-on experience in content strategy, writing, photography, and social media management.
Responsibilities
Visit destinations and businesses in downtown Dover and create engaging blog content based on your experiences.
Capture high-quality photos to accompany your posts.
Develop and schedule creative social media content for Instagram and Facebook, with the flexibility to explore other platforms.
Help build a cohesive voice and aesthetic across all digital channels.
Participate in occasional planning meetings and contribute ideas for new content themes or campaigns.
Maintain consistent publishing schedules and track engagement metrics.
Coordinate with your supervisor and local partners as needed.
What You’ll Gain
Real-world experience managing a digital content ecosystem for a public-facing tourism website.
Creative freedom to shape content strategy and voice, with mentorship from a supervisor who has over 20 years of experience building and managing websites and social media platforms.
Portfolio-worthy work in writing, photography, and digital marketing.
A deeper connection to the Dover community and local businesses.
What We’re Looking For
Strong writing skills with a clear, engaging voice.
Basic photography skills (a smartphone with a high-quality camera is sufficient; DSLR is a plus).
Familiarity with Instagram and Facebook (design tools like Canva or Adobe Express a bonus).
Reliable, organized, and self-motivated.
Willingness to explore Dover and engage with community members.
Interest in storytelling, tourism, small businesses, or local culture.
Other Perks
All travel within Dover that incurs an expense (e.g., meals or entry fees during visits) will be reimbursed by Communitively.
The internship is easily accessible via a direct bus line from the UNH campus to downtown Dover—no car necessary.
Flexible hours and hybrid working options - meetings can be virtual, and when appropriate, work is done remotely.
